PC stopped posting out of the blue

Alright, my wife's PC just stopped posting out of the blue. She turned it off one night, tried to turn it on the next day and boom....nothing. I fiddled with if for a while and took various cards out trying to see if any of them are causing the problem and it then the PC starts up on its own. Well, that lasted until the next time we turned the PC off and now it won't turn on again even if I take out every card but the video card.

Does this sound like a motherboard or CPU problem? Everything is plugged in correctly...Hell, I haven't cracked open her case in months prior to this. Fans are spinning, green light comes up on the mobo, hard drive is spinning, but no post...no beeps...nothing. Her PC is an AMD machine while mine is an Intel so I really can't try swapping parts out. Just curious as to if this sounds like a CPU or Mobo problem before I start ordering parts.

512 MB DDR Ram
Geforce3 TI400 Video Card

My first thought would be the mobo...you might try another power supply, if you have one.

Should be the power supply if it just doesn't POST one day. Happened to me once and I was freaking out over what was wrong...😛

defintely sounds like a PS to me.. if you don't have an extra PS lieing around, take of the sides of her and your cases, unhook the PS cable from your mobo and pray that the cable is long enough to go from your box to hers, that should tell you if the PS is the problem

I'm gonna try switching power supplies this weekend and see if that solves the problem. <sigh> weekends provide my only free time and I get very little of it these days.
