My system is back up and running after doing clean install fdsk/format and flash Bios again and again, but it's still starting back up on it's own after i shut it down. It clears the cache and shuts down but starts right up , right away in 1 second( 1 beep)

It never starts up on it's own, only when i shut it down.

I checked the microsoft site and emailed them ,nada!

The only way i can shut it down is thru the button on the case, will this harm my pc by shutting it down this way?

I fdsk/format ,flashed Bios( 4 times )and trouble still happening.
I didn't install any virus/firewall this time and still rebooting on it's own.

There's nothing on this PC but the essentials, nothing!

System
AMD 1.2 FSB 266
Raid 0
Gig MB 7DX
Win ME
Nvidia Gforce2 ultra 64 DDR
512 Ram PC2100 (crucial)
DVD-ROM ( Nec )
CD-RW ( Lite On )
Floppy
SB Live 5.1
19" LCD Viewsonic VG191b

The first time this happen ( starting up after shutdown) Micron told me to flash the bios (about 6 months ago) and that fix it( i bought this from MICRON pc)

It started happening again about 6 days ago so i went to the Micron site and i noticed they had a new bios (so i flashed it again) but it didn't fix it this time : <

Micron won't help me, they said it's a software problem ( they helped before because PC wasn't paid for yet, now that i paid for it they left me in the dust) I only have hardware support now.

I'm lost : <

In the advanced settings for Bios i see that ..."Numlock-boot up "is "ON"..could this be doing it? (please tell me yes)

If not, maybe i'm installing the driver's in the wrong order, what should i install first, second and so on?

When should i flash bios?

Thanks so much, i'll be back!

The NumLock being enabled has no effect on shutdown.

Here's a workaround that works on Win98SE:

Right click on desktop. Scroll down to NEW and click on SHORTCUT. Type the following in the Command line space:

C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,exitwindows

Type exactly that way. Click Next.

Type a name for the icon, like Shutdown Windows. Click Finish.

A shortcut will appear on your desktop that should shut the computer down by double clicking on it.

Good luck.
