Wondering what everyone's opinions on different speakers are. I'm interested in the Cambridge Soundworks models and the Creative Labs models that are made by Cambrididge. I believe Creative now owns Cambridge. I'm looking to spend under 100 and I'm looking for a 2.1 system. I see an OEM Sundworks SW320, seems to be an OEM version of the SW310. Some of these speakers are only like 40 dollars, but are getting rave reviews. I'm used to the home audio world where 40 bucks gets you a pretty bad sound. Are these modestly priced speakers by Creative/Cambridge and Logitech really that good, or is it just that they're good compared to what PC speakers used to be like?

Thanks

I can't tell you about 2.1 for less then $100 but, I can tell you about Logitech's z 560's they are 4.1 and man those are some great speakers for about $140 (you can find them for less on sale). I never thought that I would spend that much for computer speakers but once you do there is no going back.

If you really want 2.1 try the Logitech Z-340 for under $50 or Logitech Z640 they are the 5.1's and are $70 shipped, they get great reviews at newegg.

The Logitech z-640's were really sweet with the $20 rebate making it a great deal for a 5.1 system for $50 but alas the rebate has expired. Still not a bad deal at $69 shipped at newegg.com.

The z-560 are awesome but me personally, I don't need to shake the house with it since I have a newborn baby in the house. ;)

If you find a decent deal on some 5.1 or 4.1 speakers, you might could sell the extra satellites, to bring the net cost < $100. I'm sure there are people who have dropped or killed one of their speakers somehow and would like to complete their set.

i would suggest looking at the BA790's, if you just want 2.1. they are fantastic speakers if you are just looking to play music.

Thanks to everyone thus far.

How much do those BA's go for?

How are those Yamaha's? They usually make a good product, but I don't think they manufacture there own speakers and I heard some quality contro issues, but I'd be interested in your opinion. I can get them for 111.00.

I also saw the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set for 150, it's more than I wanted to spend, but probably worth it.

I don't see 790's on the BA site. I see a 7900 system designed for Gateway computers. Do you have any more info?

Thanks
