PC Speaker reccomendations

Need to replace my speaker system. I should say right off that my mom makes me wear phones when I play games or crank the tunes...but I need the good system when she's not home or when others want to hear what I hear. I prolly only need a 2.1 system. Thinking of the Logitech z-340. Opinions? I like to have a good handy jack for the phones (which the z-340 has, right up front). Other suggestions and why? Thanks much...

I have used the Z340s and they sound damn nice for the price. Incredible bass and clarity. Some people complain about the sub having too much bass, but simply tuning the EQ on your soundcard or audio playback program should fix it. Everyone has their own opinions and hears things differently...

I have the Z540s, which is basically the Z340 with 2 extra speakers and I love them. So that's another vote for the Z340!

I'll third this. My mom yells at me once in while to turn them down but she is really gonna complain when I buy some Z560's😛

I love my 540's... my roommate complains cuz they overpower my old fps-1000 set I gave him when I got the logitech.

A klipsch 4.2 setup could be nice to. . . unless you just want two speakers, at which case the 2.1, or go for the 5.1 for kicks. . .all have a HP port close to your fingertips, and indipendant volumn control. All work quite well.

Get the Klipsch 2.1's, they are a little on the expensive side, but you will be getting quality that is in my opinion a bit better than Logitech.

For something affordable, here's another vote for the 340's. If you want more high end stuff, the Promedia 2.1's are good.

I need to wake up.. when i saw the title of this post I thought you meant the case speaker and i was wondering why anyone would want a recommendation... lol.
Although, having said that, i prefer the little electro blipper thing that came with my current case to the old fashioned ones, but only because its quieter 😉

i've used these speakers for about two years. Granted, they're "stock" JBL speakers, but they sound excellent. I just recently upgraded to a home theater setup.

Bones, could you be a little more specific about what type of system you are looking for, for example, do you want a 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, etc. Also what price bracket are you looking for, <$100, $100-$200, $200-$300, $300+. Then I can get very specific for what system would best match your needs.

I got lucky and got my Klipsch 4.1's a couple of years ago for $20 bucks off of some Compaq deal. They would have been worth retail, thats for sure. If you are willing to spend the money, Klipsch makes a high quality set of speakers.

The Altec Lansing 251's are nice. Under $100. 5.1's if you want that but you don't have to use all the speakers.
