My PC while playing games in the middle of the games shuts off. Also when i run stress tests i get the same result only sooner. It usually shuts off 2min into a stress test. Temps look fine

When playing games video cards go up to 60c maybe less and cpu usually hoovers around 49-55c

then all of the sudden, boom it shuts itself off. i was thinking that maybe its a power supply issue however id assume that if it was id get no power. once the PC shuts down some LEDs on the MOBO are still on even though everything is off. And to turn the PC back on i need to unplug the power cord then wait for a minute then plug it back in and it turns on. I can also just wait about 5 minutes and turn the PC back on without disconnecting the power cord.

Im kinda at a loss. Any suggestions?

What are your rig specs? is it overclocked at all? You may need to up the voltage a bit to be stable, or it could be PSU being too weak

Please list your components.

Power supply issues can present in multiple ways, and the issue your PC is having is a classic case of a faulty PSU. In other words, just because your PSU "works", that doesn't mean that a) it isn't faulty and b) it is sufficient.

Up your northbridge voltage a bit. I bet your memory controller is overstressed with 4 sticks of ram

also software is 100% always wrong for psu voltages. use a dmm.

Honestly i dont know as it was a PC that i purchased off of a friend before he shipped out.
I think its an alienware PC, i took off the PSU hoping that there was a label on it and sure enough there wasnt.

DMM

Digital Multi Meter am afraid i dont have one nor do i know how to use it.

I will try to increase the voltage on the northbridge though.

I think AW. Uses PC&P for their PSU's but I'm not certain. Don't over do it on the northbridge though; +.01 or +.02 should be enough.

dont mean to sound like a noob but i cant find anything on my bios that says Northbridge only thing i see is

HT spp <=> mcp
SPP
MCP

my mcp is set to auto and its at 1.5
everything else is set to auto.

Is it CPU FSB or maybe CPU CORE?

I also just took out a video card and so far no shut downs.

Been running stress tests now for over 30min and no shutdown, normally it would fail after 2min

now all this with just 1 video card not 2. possible PSU?
