Hello.
I am planning to buy a new PC in about three months.

I came here to seek help and advice for my setup.
My budget is ~800$.
I know this isn't much, but I guess I could get something powerful enough.

I am from Latvia, so my currency isn't dollars.

What am I planning to do with this PC.

1) Browsing and everyday things.
2) Video editing (Adobe Premiere/After Effects)
3) Gaming (Nothing hardcore, but I want to enjoy the games for the next few years)

My current setup:

CPU:
Intel® Core™ i5-3450 3.1GHz
(I think this would last me a few years)

MB:
(Need help on this one. Can't decide.)

RAM:
Kingston 8GB PC10600 DDR3 CL9 HYPERX KIT OF 2 1333MHz

GPU:
Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD6850 2GB

CASE:
Thermaltake V4 BLACK EDITION MID TOWER VM30001W2Z

PSU:
Corsair CXV2 ATX 2.3 600W 80+

HDD:

Keeping my current one. For now...

Tips on how to improve this setup?

If you're buying online, can you link to the website you're using so we can take a look at the prices and selection?

CPU I guess you're not looking to overclock ( not 3570k). It's a good CPU.
Mobo i5-3450 should be paired with a B75 or H77 chipset motherboard. B75 should have what most people need.
RAM Looks good as long as it's 1.5V, not 1.65V
GPU Relatively underpowered compared to the CPU, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it leaves you room to upgrade the GPU without worrying about CPU bottlenecking too much.
Case Thermaltake isn't a particularly good case brand. I'd take a look at Antec and Cooler master cases, they're usually good value and well built.
PSU Overpowered for this rig. i5-3450 and 6850 would run on CX430 V2. CX500 V2 could power a 2x6-pin graphics card.
HDD Good

What's your monitor resolution? Do you need to buy a copy of Windows 7?

It's way too early to be picking out specific parts. In general, what you have picked out seems to be a decent framework. Come back about a week or so before you plan to buy and we can hunt for deals then.

I wanted to choose a k series cpu. The CPU itself wouldn't add much to the price, but I would need a better mobo, and it would exceed my budget.

I want to do video editing on that pc, so the gpu needs to be rather good. Any other options for this? This current one was the best one I could find.

I will choose the case when I get to actually buying the PC.

Well, I had a feeling that this psu is an overkill. Will choose something else.

I'm planing to buy from this site: www.1a.lv It's in Latvian, but google translate should help you understand things.

Basically my budget is ~800$ and that is ~400Ls in my currency.

And I understand that it is a bit too fast to search for actual parts. I would just like to see what I could get for that money.

Another question: I googled this and it seems to be ok, but I'll still ask: If the gpu is pci-e 2.1 and the mobo has a pci-e 2.0 slot, will it use the full power of the gpu?

Yep, this. Missed the 3 months part in your OP as it was getting late... ;)

Video editing depends primarily on CPU performance. If if the editing tools you use take advantage of CUDA or OpenCL then it can also benefit from GPU performance.

What gpu should I look at?

As I said, the 6850 isn't a bad choice as it leaves room for upgrading the GPU later without worrying about CPU bottlenecking. But if you want the most out of your CPU, right now, you should be getting a HD7850 2GB. In three months time, I don't know. Just can't plan that far ahead

Looks fine, but again there's little point in shopping lists this far ahead of your actual planned date of purchase.

Just be sure to buy a motherboard that can punch that turbo up to max.
