Hello guys. I'm building a PC for gaming purposes, and since I´m kinda noob on hardwares, I need some help with MOBO and Chip Set.

Currently I have the following items:

Video Card: PNY NVIDIA GeForce XLR8 GTX 465 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express (already bought) RAM: Corsair Dominator 8GB (4x2gb) DDR3 1600MHZ PC3-12800 DIMM (already bought)
HD: Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB SATA 7200rpm 32MB (already bought)
Power Suply: Corsair Vx550W
Chip Set: ????
MOBO: ????

Can you help me to chose those components, based on the previous config?

Many thanks.
Ferdinand

how much are you looking to spend? an i3, i5 or an i7 would match up very well with your components, but it comes down to $

500 on cpu?

300 on mobo?

=

i7 920 D0, or a i7 930 D0 = 200-300 dollars in the USA.
Then a Giggy X58-UD5 ~ $260 series, or a UD7 ~ $350 series and you should be golden!

Or you can grab an ASUS P6T7 series ~ $375... the workstation boards, and that should last you a long time as well.

Spend less on the cpu, more on the board!

Since I got dual channel memory sticks (4x2GB), I didn`t want to get a I7 9xx, because I would waste 1x2GB stick. Is that correct?

So, I thought of getting a Phenom II x6 1090T and a GA-890xa-UD3. Is it a good choice?

Thanks for ur help.

No, you can run it dual channel with 4x2gb. Hell, even run it with 1 stick if you want, there's no problem with that.

the i7 will mop the floor off that AMD system unless were looking @ pure stock values.

But an oc'd i7 with HT on will stomp the floor off a X6 in 90% of the benchmarks you throw at it.

Hello guys.

I'm finishing the PC set-up, and the only thing left is MOBO.

Is there a big difference from GA-X58a-UD3, from UD5 or UD7? Since the price is a lot different, I was thinking of getting a UD5.

Thanks a lot.
