PC seems to have 1-3 second lockups

I've had my gaming pc for around 3 years now. Recently i've noticed it having short 1-3 second lockups where everything freezes (mouse, sound, keyboard, graphics).

I first noticed this while playing games, and figured it was due to low fps or frame rate lag. Then i started noticing it while doing low-intensive work like browsing youtube or even scrolling in reddit.

I've also been starting to get random BSOD's while playing games.

What are some simple diagnostics or tools to figure out what is causing my pc to lock up?

Other than the freeze, the pc runs perfectly fast.

I experienced this when my HDD was failing. And then finally one time it rebooted itself and told me no system drive was found. Once the HDD was replaced and Windows was reintalled everything was green.

hmm interesting. I've been using the same SSD for 3 years now. Maybe it is deteriorating already?

Could also check "event viewer" to see if there are any signs of problems.
