PC resets if USB Mass storage device is inserted

I'm having a little bit of a problem and was hoping that someone might have some advice for me. A few weeks ago Windows started playing the hardware inserted/hardware removed noises over and over. I removed my USB drive and it stopped, but then when I inserted the drive the PC rebooted. Now any time I insert a USB storage device (flashdrive, USB harddrive, USB CDRW) the PC will restart. I had thought it might be a Windows driver corruption issue of some kind when it started doing it at first but I discovered that it won't post if the drive is attatched. I'm completely stumped as to why this would happen only with drives without causing problems for other USB devices. I checked the motherboard headers to make sure that everything was still plugged in and even flashed my bios to the latest version to see if that might solve it. Any thoughts?

My system is
ASROCK 939Dual-SATA2
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2x512 Geil DDR400
PCI-E ATI X1900XT
Windows XP SP2
Some number Western Digital Sata Hard Drive
Some number Lite-On dual layer DVDRW

Check and make sure there isnt a screw/standoff/somethingelse between the board and case. Usually Id blame the headers connected to the motherboard, but if it does it with the ports that are on the back panel of the board, then youve got a serious board issue there.

So, if you cant find anything metal grounding the board, try removing the board from the case and seeing if the problem goes away. If it doesnt, RMA that bitch.

Last night I took the case apart and checked for a short but couldn't find anything that would be grounding it so it looks like I'll be trying to RMA the board. I was hoping that it was some other possibility that I hadn't considered since except for USB drives the ports work fine, but I was afraid it was going to be a return all along. Thanks!
