I'm building an HTPC to watch/record television shows on and play movies... I already have one of the high-end Logitech remotes, so basically, I'm looking for an IR receiver that I can program my current remote for (I'll be using the remote-to-remote learning function... the point is just that I don't care about the aestetics of the remote control that I'm buying).

what's killing me is that all the receivers that I've seen are ugly looking USB devices. anyone know of anything nice-looking and unobtrusive that I can install inside an open cdrom or floppy bay?

i've used just about all the major pc remotes and my favorite is currently the streamzap. it has better application support then any other remote i've seen, including the ati remote wonder II.

as for building a reciever into a drive bay, I'd also like to find this kind of solution, but have yet to find anything. of course you could always get a shuttle media center.

HTPC cases from Ahanix & Silverstone ship with a VFD, which has an IR Monitor built in. You could try shopping for a plain VFD that would fit into your case via a mod.

I can't remember what the receiver that came with the Ahanix Imon looked like but that is a very good HTPC remote. And it has been going for peanuts relative to what it originally sold for.
