PC Refusing to POST after BIOS update

Need a guru's assistance on this. I decided I wanted to upgrade my Intel BIOS and duly downloaded the flasher utility from Intel for my Intel 875PBz Mboard. Everything went well until it restarted *after* the BIOS update completed (or so I thought) and then I noticed that it gave me a comment that the Memory was not in an optimal configuration.

Forgetting that I was not supposed to switch off the machine for the next 3 mins (ie this is the only reason I can think of as to why the PC is refusing to POST and something which I am still kicking myself for), I switched off the PC and rearranged the memory to a more "optimal" config. :x

Anyways, to cut the story short, the PC is now refusing to POST at all and gives me 9 beeps which from what I have read about BIOS BEEP codes, refers to a problem with the BIOS. (Hopefully I got this right)

Q - What can I do short of buying a new motherboard? (I know overseas they have a BIOS chip replacement kit but have been scouting around without much luck for such a device over here in KL).

Any help in this is greatly appreciated.

P/S Alternatively, if some1 wants to offload their Intel 875PBz mboard to me, feel free to drop me a line. :D

Have you tried just clearning the CMOS chip on the motherboard? Should be a jumper pin for that. Might be all you need to do. Pull the power plug to the pc (don't just turn it off with the button on the tower). Then, follow the instructions for clearing the cmos on the motherboard from your manual. I'd give it 15 minutes or so in the "clear" position before restoring the pin to its proper position and firing it back up again. Also, put the memory back where it was. Then, turn it back on and hope it works. If it doesn't, here's a pretty cheap solution:

Shouldn't cost you more than $25 to fix. Go to http://www.badflash.com/ for help.

(1) Clearing CMOS Chip - doesn't resolve my issue despite utilising this suggestion. I do not think there are jumper settings to clear it. All I did was remove power cord and removed battery for 10 mins.
(2) Placing memory in the original config didn't resolve my issue as well.
(3) Bad Flash solution doesn't work either as apparently this board doesn't have a removable bios chip.

Thanks for your help anyways.

LiLithTecH,

Yawp, I have set the BIOS jumpers according to what it should be, but no dice. Oh well...back to the drawing board. Wonder if I voided my warranty if I updated the BIOS from the Intel website.

Intel has thought ahead to the address the issue you are having, and they have a method of restoring to a workable bios.

You will simply need a formatted floppy disc (doesn't need to be a "bootable" floppy; just formatted, like most of the ones you buy at Staples, etc. already come.) You will also need to download a "Recovery Bios" file from Intel specifically made for your board. I link directly to the page below.

Lastly, you will need to REMOVE the Bios Configuration Jumper from your motherboard before doing the recovery. Follow the instructions from the page below.

Download the following recovery bios for this motherboard from Intel.

Here's the Intel page that has both the recovery bios file, AND the instructions on how to proceed. Follow instructions carefully. Remember, you have to remove the bios configuration jumper on the motherboard for this exercise once you're ready with the floppy disc with the recovery file.
