Pc Reboots when i open ie?

I recently went to use my desktop pc today and i turned it on, opened ie and it froze then rebooted. so i then i tried to use firefox and it worked for about 5 minutes and then restarted, but if i do anything else its fine, only when i access the internet. does andyone have any idea what could cause this? thanks for anyhelp


system is

amd 3200 64
asus board
1gb crucial 2700
2 wd 120gb hds,
ti4200


running windows xp with sp2.

do other internet functions work... chat programs, say... the ping command in a command window, IRC, file sharing? anything of that nature?
 
Everything worked ok, it only rebooted when i started ie or music match, but i got the problem fixed, i just reformated and everthing works fine, thanks for the help
 
Do you have any virus programs on your computer? You could have gotten a virus on your computer. If you get an error message that you have one minute to save everything you could have the sasser worm. You can get the fix from www.norton.com
