***Update****

Got a new power supply....antec 550 sli computer is still turning off when idle. I run vista 64bit....only thing in idle that turns off is the monitor. I ran a sandra stress test passed fine.

My next culprit could be software/vista? Gonna leave my pc in the bios screen tonight and see what happens. My motherboard is the ABit fatalaty SLI....got it in a combo deal at frys but they only had left the open box ones?

Built a new rig with a 4500 dual core, one 8800gt, abit sli motherboard. Nothing is OC'd at this point. The psu is a carry over from my last pc-500w.

After an hour or so the pc shuts down on its own, wont turn back on for a few minutes. The lights on the motherboard stay on tho. Probably a bad or insuffient PSU? Just wanna make sure its that before i run to frys and drop a 100$ on a new one haha!

Big thanks

Update: Speedfan is showing my +12v @ 6.02v ?

The PSU is suspect, but there are other possibilities. Does the rig shut down no matter what? Or are you doing something specific?

It shuts down no matter what.....I thought it was weird when I left it on at night and in the AM it was shut off

Im using a rosewill 500w power supply with fan on auto....had no problems on my last build (however only a single core core athlon 3200 with ati 1900xt vid card)

i did read rosewill can be shady for psu's

im gonna go out and buy a new psu, as i will be upgrading to sli shortly anyways (as soon as bb has another 8800gt in stock haha)

Personally I would run a stress test on the memory using Memtest. Also check for puffy capacitors.

take side of case off, blast with box fan.
if its really a heat issue, it'll run fine.
