PC randomly shut down & won't start up again

Hey guys, was hoping maybe you could help me out.

I was browsing the internet, looking at a message board I frequent when my PC shut down. It started back up, set itself to the default clock speeds and rebooted again.

Now every time I restart it, it gets up to the words "Memory Test" in the BIOS but hangs at "MEMORY TE".

Here are my hardware specs:

GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250620AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler
FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX400-PN, RoHS, 12cm FAN, version 2.2, 2 SATA, 20+ 4 pin, PCI Express, 400W Power Supply
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK
XFX PVT71PUDP3 GeForce 7900GS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 EXTREME Video Card

I've also got a DVD drive, a DVD-RW and a floppy. I've been running the processor at 3.2ghz since January with no issues (45C). This whole machine has been running fine since January.

I haven't had more than 5 minutes with the machine to try stuff yet, I will later today. I did try to run with a single piece of RAM, tried both of them seperately, no luck. Also tried unplugging the power from the DVDs and unplugging the system and removing the BIOS battery. I know I should try to clear the CMOS, but I need to find the jumper, I didn't see it with the limited time I had.

I know it's probably the power supply or motherboard. Just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences or has any hunches. Thanks.

unplug everything except for the CPU, RAM and see what happens. Also do you have another maching that you could try that RAM in? Or do you have any spare RAM lying around to test in your machine?

Unfortunately my other PC is a piece of junk that takes SD-RAM and I don't have any more DDR. I'm going to try to run the machine barebones when I get home later.

Does the fact that it hangs up near the memory test actually mean that the problem is the memory? I wasn't sure because it never gets to the point where it starts counting it...
