1 gig pc3200
evga 6800 gs
300 gig ide hd

thats the specs
he reformated the pc with windows home edition
once it boots into windows and its on desktop after a lil while it just freezes

and i am not sure why , because i had the exact same parts in my pc exept my 80 gig hd
and it worked fine

cant really test it crashes before it would even come to the user selection screen or once its booted into windows it would randomly crash
after a short period of time .

yes nothing is oced
but were not really sure what it is

when i was running that spec with my 3800 instead of the 3200 , my ram was in the 2 blue slots
he put the ram in the 2 black spots i am not sure if that matters or not
but were running out of ideas

Anything shows with question marks in Device Manager (if you can have Windows stable long enough to access it)?

You need to start looking at memory if you are crashing so soon. Try different slots, try one at a time, try different latencies, etc.

[*]Can you complete 2 passes of memtest86+?
[*]Can you boot into safe mode without crashing?

the other problem was whenever he tried to shut down the pc locks up
now that he switched the ram slots to the 2 blue slots
he can restart normally , shut off and pc boots normally
so far its good
