Ok guys, I know I'm with OCZ tech support and I should be able to figure this out, but I'm at my wits end so here goes.

I recently purchased a Sapphire X800 Pro for my system and I've been having problems ever since. Anytime I launch into 3D, my system just locks up. I have tried 3 different driver sets (Cat 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3) and I keep getting the lockups. I just received a new card from RMA today and tested it at work on my coworker's machine. Ran 3D Mark, etc and it ran perfectly. I come home, plug it in, and guess what? Same crashes. So, I run Memtest, memory checks out OK, run Prime 95 and SuperPI, CPU checks out, and I started troubleshooting each device I have plugged in and still can't figure out what's wrong. I also got a 550 watt PSU because I thought that maybe my 12v rail wasn't giving enough juice (upgraded from 22A on the 12v to 30A).

Can anyone please give me any advice. Maybe I overlooked something?

BTW: This is also a fresh install of XP w/ SP2.

Does it happen when you launch games or 3D mark too?

My thought is maybe your soundcard / sound drivers could initialize differently when you start a game and that might screw things up.

Have you tried disconnecting everything you're not using?

You've tried all the stuff that came to mind initially to me.

I hope you get this figured out.

Thanks for the suggestions. It actually just crashed when I was surfing the net so now it's not just a 3D problem. I unplugged all USB devices, except for my keyboard and mouse, and it still crashes. I tried taking my sound card as well, but that doesn't help. Maybe my mobo is bad now.

I would try disabling AGP fast writes, not 100% sure where you disable that at, but I think it's in the ATI drivers somewhere. Have you tried updating the drivers for your motherboard chipset? Not sure what you have, your link to your rig isn't working..

Well, after switching out my motherboard (MSI 865PE to Abit AI7), I realized that my USB Printer was causing everything to crash. Now for some reason, my DVD burner doesn't want to function at all. It's recognized in the BIOS, but the tray won't open and it doesn't show up in Windows. I plugged my old DVD ROM drive to the same molex and it works fine. Looks like I need to RMA the drive now.

Have you run DX Diag?
