I went to Fry's the other day and saw that they have the Turbo Cool 1KW on sale for $399.90 without any rebates. Its' an in-store unadvertised special. I noticed that PC Power & Cooling have removed this model from their web site, as well as Newegg, so they are probably discontinuing the standard 1KW in favor of the 1KW-SR (Single Rail). Now, while I agree that $400.00 is a shi+load of money to spend on a PS, you gotta admit, that is a good price, as the 1KW used to sell for $$529.99.

I wanna get one, but I just bought an Adaptec 4805SAS PCI-e RAID card so I can upgrade to 15K 146GB SAS. Mucho dinero. Also, then I need to go with a deeper case (I'm thinking V1200) too.

Maybe someone else can take advantage of the deal. You know you want one...

POST EDITED to correct my error: I have edited my OP, where I had said that the 1KW-SR was on sale for $399.90. This is incorrect, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I had been to Fry's a couple of days ago, and decided to verify what was on sale. What I found out was that the 1KW-SR (Fry's PLU #5065035) was on the shelf where the 1KW goes, and at that point I did not verify the PLU numbers as I was headed out the door. Silly me for thinking that products would be where they belong on the shelf at Fry's. Still my F-up and I truly apologize. I should have checked.

The 1KW-SR is priced at $529.99 (Fry's PLU #5065035). Newegg sells the 1KW-SR for $599.99.

BTW, there was no "sticker" on the shelf for the 1KW-SR, and the 1KW was on the bottom shelf sandwiched in between some other PS'. THis may or may not have been intentional on Fry's part, as this could be a "bait-n-switch" too.

I am ready for my flogging now.

Disclaimer: NOT CRAPPING.

What sort of components do you need to require one of these? 4x 15KRPM HD's, quad SLI, a pair of oc'ed cpu's (is quad SLI available on a dual socket platform)?

I wanna hear from someone who's needed one of these so I can marvel at that powerhungry system. This thing is huge!

that is a good deal
with 72 amps on +12V, I guess they dont need dual or quad rail :p
course it needs a loooong case, or it will butt against the DVD drives (9.1")

It's a dead deal. I went to the manhattan beach store and it was at the regular price when they did a price check for me.

Did you see a sign with the sale price? Did you just bring it to the register and it was $400.

OP: Which store did you get it from and what day did you get it.

Also, if any one gets one today or after at the $400 price please post right away.

Thanks.
