I am about to purchase one of these power supplies from the PC Power and Cooling online store because it has won me over both performance and feature wise (PCI-Express 2.0 / 8-pin connectors). Yet, I am skeptical about another product being released anytime soon. Is it possible that I could gain any insight whether or not PC Power and Cooling will release a successor to the Silencer 750w series PSUs? I just want to make sure I am getting the best value for my money's worth. Thanks in advance.

How many forums have you posted this exact same thing?
I messaged you over at hardforum....
So I will tell you now.....
PC Power & Cooling is not a company that pumps out ipated PSU`s every other week!
They are deliberate in how they do buisness!!
If you are still concrned then call and ask to speak to a technician and voice your concerns..... they will answer all your questions!!

here is the # 1-760-931-5700 ? 1-800-722-6555

Good Luck!!

Well I usually post on about 4-5 forums just to get the most widespread opinion. But thanks for your input once again.

AuDi,

PCPC just upped the warranty on the 750 to 5 years:

http://www.pcpower.com/product...product.php?show=S75QB

And, looks like they dropped the price $10 on the black one; copper version is OOS today on their web site.

Regardless, if you had bought a month ago you would have missed the warranty upgrade.

If the 750 meets all your needs, no reason not to get it--it has been out for a while, any bugs that it might have had have been exorcised--something you can't say about a new model much of the time.

If they come out with an 825W, or a 699W version, chances are it would not offer anything that your rig really needed....

it seemed to verify most of what I've read. What "minor" discrepancies are you talking about? Compared to what "more reputable" sites? Are the alleged discrepancies material? If they're really "minor", then why mention them at all?

because if you take the reviews of other sites namely JonnyGURU,,,SPCR and others....
techreport.com doesn`t hold a candle to those sites!

Also-- if you take gingerstewarts post in another thread along with John agreeing with her .
IMO those minor differences in the long run can cause havoc....

gingerstewart says---
Read the article......just wonder how they got their results. Or, more specifically, how they constructed their "Beast" power supply tester and its readings.

For instance, they have the OCZ and Infiniti scoring generally low efficiency and the PCP&C scoring very high, while every other reputable testing site has just the opposite findings.

Second, they show low ripple from the GSX 700W and also VERY small drops in +12V voltage at 100% load for A-L-L of the units....and, again, the GSX 700W unit has historically and repeatedly shown very high to out-of-ATX spec ripple at full load by other testers, and the notion that every single power supply tested barely dropped their +12V voltages at full load is just stupid.....even the best drops its voltage, and quite a few of the tested power supplies aren't close to being the best, esp. at holding their +12V voltages at full load.

Makes one wonder..........

Also among sites that test various equipment Techreport.com just is not on equal footing with the GURU`s site...or Hard forums testing or even Anad`s testing or for that matter SPCR`s testing of PSU`s.....

Peace!!
