Reviewed here on Anandtech last June. Solid unit made by Seasonic. Likely a near-twin of a built for Antec Earthwatts 500W. Fan ramps up faster than it needs too, and gets too loud under load. Likely quiet enough when not gaming or crunching.

Don't think this is same as Earthwatts. These have single 12 v rail. unlike Earthwatts made by delta.

I could be wrong. Don't know who is making which Earthwatts models these days. The Seasonic - Earthwatts connection was mentioned in one of the comments posted for the Anandtech review.

Either way Earthwatts has 2 12 v rail either the old or the new ones. They aren't the same power supply.

I plugged in the 8-pin EPS12V connector and proceeded to put a 30A load on it. The PSU did not shut off, which confirmed that my visual observation that all of the +12V leads were in fact coming from the same source on the PCB. The Antec EarthWatts does NOT have multiple +12V rails. It only has one +12V rail with no limiters on any of the connectors.

Though they have the same OEM, the EarthWatt and Silencer (a misnomer) are kind of different. PCP&C typically overbuilds their units, so it may have a bit more overhead. Also, it has 35A +12v while the EarthWatts only has 34A. PCP&C also usually specs better components. Finally, PCP&C tend to be louder. "Silencer" is only so when compared to the Turbo Cool brethern.

I have the PCP&C 500 and it's fantastic. I think the complaints about noise under load are overblown. I've never ever ever "heard" my PSU ever and I've given it plenty of opportunities to heat up. And this is with a Lian-Li PCA05B which means the PSU is exhausting from the FRONT of the case so if anyone would suffer through noise issues, it's me.

Maybe if I ran dual 4870x2s and had bad airflow this would be an issue, but if I was running that setup, this probably wouldn't be the PSU I'd use anyway.

In the reviews there are 3 people in a row that mention they were refused the rebate. The manufacturer responded fwiw saying that they will make good. It's a pretty good deal though even without rebate with the free USB stick is thrown in. I passed on the deal since I don't feel like following up on the rebate in case it was refused.

I went with the Corsair PSU which is only a few bucks more (no USB stick but don't really need). The promo code also applies to this unit.

While PCP&C specs some good components in some of their power supplies built by their OEM suppliers (and as we all know, PCP&C builds nothing.....), the rampant use of OST RLX and RST capacitors throughout the secondary side in the Silencer 500, something Seasonic uses on their cheaper builds, doesn't exactly inspire confidence......the secondary is where I'd more expect a failure than the primary circuitry. Seems PCP&C didn't spec anything different outside of having the 80mm side draft fan installed and the attendant heatsink change to accommodate that cooling fan choice.

I ordered this yesterday, and it came an hour ago and is feeding my computer now. So far, so good. The fan is quieter than the one on the CPU (i7 920 stock hs) so I have no complaints about noise, but I'm not putting it under much load.
