Well it might not be as bad but I'd say it close, but console piracy is hot and heavy. The 360 has been cracked aswell as the Wii. By the end of the year PS3(if not alot sooner) will likely be cracked. Yeah most ppl don't know how to mod these systems but its just a matter of time before they are like the original Xbox's. Modded original Xbox's are common.
I don't understand though. Most ppl want UT series for online play and a key is needed to play online which requires you to buy the game.

UT3 will have a significant single-player component while multiplayer is scaled back from UT2004. Both Onslaught and Assault modes are gone.

I feel bad for Crysis. I guarantee you it will lose big money for EA and Crytek, especially since it probably won't have a strong enough multiplayer component.
I am most disappointed by the UT3 news. I bought UT2004 and it rocked, and I know from my recently-arrived "Games for Windows Magazine (formerly Computer Gaming World) that UT3 will have a significant single-player component while multiplayer is scaled back from UT2004. Both Onslaught and Assault modes are gone.

or the console sales may help them continue to develop for PC. expanding their market is simply a smart move IMO, considering it does seem like pc gaming is going downhill![]()
I don't understand why people like yourself cannot fathom that piracy hurts the gaming industry. Yes, some of the numbers they come up with are ridiculous, and only take into account that every single person would stole a game would have otherwise bought it (which obviously isn't true). But to keep denying piracy hurts developers and greatly affects the future of this industry is just stupid, IMO. So, like I said, if you want to defend piracy, just keep your fvcking head in the sand, because you're doing no good.Originally posted by: apoppin
i think it is very smart - despite their 'cover' excuse of piracyOriginally posted by: Fenixgoon

I would get caught right away and I dont wanna meet Bubba in the shower just because I didnt pay for a game I could have purchased anyway.

I read PC game sales are declining and console game sales are increasing ,so that us probably more to do with it as well.
The overall game market in 2006 was $13.5 billion in North America.
U.S. PC game sales for 2006, with retail revenues over $970 million - a 1 percent increase over PC based revenue posted in 2005.

I don't doubt piracy has some effect on PC games sales, although I doubt its signifigant. However, I agree with appopin...they're going to consoles because thats where the money is. I can't say I blame them one bit either. Piracy has always been a problem with PC games, perhaps with a slight reprieve around the time games filled CDs but your average consumer still didn't have access to broadband. Don't tell me piracy just suddenly got a whole lot worse and started killing a previously solid industry because I don't buy it. Its a contributing factor, but it certainly isn't solely to blame.

Comments made by Epic's Capps carried a similar tone. "PC gaming is really falling apart," he revealed. "It killed us to make Unreal Tournament 3 cross-platform, but Epic had to do it," adding "the market that would buy a $600 video card knows how Bittorrent works." Epic is currently developing Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in-house.
Meanwhile, Firaxis designer and programmer Soren Johnson remained confident in PC development. He suggested that "game design on the PC is going to bend toward persistence," noting Blizzard's World of Warcraft is "successful because you can't pirate WoW. You cannot pirate an MMO. Period."
