Are there any how-tos or faqs on the net on how to do this? I bought the pc-pc cable from CompUSA and will try to get them networked this weekend. I used the search and came up empty and can't seem to find anything good on the internet.

I don't know will that works but you can always use crossover cable with 1 nic in each computer if you just want to connect two of them , or use serial cable

cheers

don't really see how you could create a network, given that you don't have any network interfaces.

If you're using windows isn't there a direct-cable connection form of dial-up networking? try that.

PC-PC USB networking

If you are talking about USB network connection.

Like this: Belkin USB Direct Connect Adapter

I have a mixture of NIC, and such USB Ethernet connections. The USB connections seems always 20% to 30% slower then PCI NIC (using Qcheck). It is also more expensive then two NICs and a CrossOver cable, but otherwise it working well.

Nothing beats the convenient of USB when I need to put a computer temporary on my Network. In less then 3 minutes I can make any computer (with USB port) a Network computer.

From Belkin:

FAQ

Good luck!

P.S. Is it just me, or is all this *purely* USB and FireWire networking cr@p for the birds? IMHO, it makes integrating components more difficult, and does not enjoy the price pressure from competition/economies of scale that Ethernet has, let alone any kind of wide inter-compatibility among vendors.
