PC: Painkiller - $10 at EBGames B&M - YMMV!

Painkiller for the PC rang up for $10 at EBGames B&M all day yesterday (Friday 4/9), as reported by stryker115 from VGtalk.com and numerous posters at other deal sites on the web. There's been confirmations from EB employees too. Could this ring up today for $10 as well, or was this a one day promotion by EBGames for a brand spanking new game? YMMV. Please share your experiences.

according to the FW thread, it's spotty at best. the game is scanning for full price ($40) at a clear majority of stores today.

I bought it yesterday and it DID scan in at $10.00. The guy at the register caught the error and fixed it on the spot. ARGH!! Damn manager was standing beside him and made sure he got the price right.

Why can't I get lucky at least every once in awhile? I probably could have pushed the issue but I am not as extreme as some of the folks on this forum. 😱

Sounds like a mass mistake from corporate, then individual stores fixing the prices. Basically if the store has sold a few copies of painkiller, they probably fixed it now 🙂

I know how you feel, I even feel weird using coupons.

This deal is 100% dead. All stores worldwide were notified of this error and how to correct it.

From what I caught of it, there was supposed to be a $10 off Painkiller and someone accidentally entered it's final price at $10...

i must say after reading the people having massive problems with this game due to copy protection i wouldn't recommend buying this game at any price. it has massive problems running on common cd-rom and dvd rom drives.

Wow, that blows, I'm probably going to wait until they fix this, nothing like supporting a company that treats its customers like thieves even before we get the game.

Worst comes to worst you can get a no cd program after you buy the game. I'm thinking of trying to find one for UT2k4, tired of putting in DVD just to play the game.

Generally IMHO, copy protection only affects legitimate customers with the inconveniance. Pirates just go get the no cd thing thats availible usually before game even arrives at stores.

This game is really fun. I have been playing it for the past few days and it's kinda like Quake in that it's a fast action shooter, but it's got some creepy monsters and very creepy environments. The interaction w/ the surroundings is extremely good.

Yup, theres one out for UT2K4, I try to do that with my games ever since Diablo II killed a CD-Drive of mine. That and the disc was getting worn out from spinning. I was glad when LOD came out, give my D2 disc a rest.

I need that one and the one for Halo if it exists. I'm tired of swapping disks.

The funny thing is that it's pretty obvious that the copy protection didn't do much since it's been floating around via warez for over a week now...LOL.

It's sad, but true.

USE DAEMON TOOLS

Actually, after playing this for a couple of days now, I'm kind of disappointed. There is no skill involved here, it is just mindless button mashing, ie Serious Sam style. If you liked that game, you'll love this one. It's fun for awhile, but gets old quick. I'm still playing thru, waiting to see if something changes, but so far, at about 3/4 thru the game, it's getting boooooooring.

As far as the multiplayer, since there are only like 5 weapons, that is kind of lame too. Back to FarCry!

I did pick up 4 copies at the $10.60 price with tax here in the gulf coast where my friend also picked up 4 copies for himself. -sevag

I thought about Serious Sam also when I was playing the demo. I think SS was a little more interesting though. I might buy Painkiller when it's in the bargain bin in a few months for $9.99.
