PC P&C 510 SLi - Should I have PC P&C mod it for my DFI Expert?

I have a DFI Expert motherboard that has the 8-pin 12V connector. The power supply only has the older 4-pin connector which is currently plugged into one half of the 8-pin connector. It seems to be working alright but I have read that others have sent in their PC P&C 510 SLi power supplies to PC P&C to be altered to have a native 8-pin connector. Should I do the same? Will the 8-pin be the new standard on future motherboards or just the Expert? The reason I ask is because I will be without a computer until it gets back to me.

If its runing fine no need to bother, but most workstation and future boards will use the new 8 pin connector

So it would be worth it to have it modified to natively support the 8-pin then? I can live without the PC if it is worth the trouble. What is the downfall of using only 4 pins out of the 8 pins anyway?
