Think I'm finally gonna get rid of my AMD k6 2 400Mhz processor. Thinking along the lines of a Duron and either Abit or Asus socket A mobo.

Firstly, anything I should look out for on a socket A, ie special features for overclocking?

Do I need to upgrade my PSU? Think it's a 235W, the old slot A athlons chewed current but not sure about socket A variety. Ive only got a few cards installed, but will tv card and maybe dvd decoder stress the psu too much with a duron?

Lastly, any other comments, good or bad, will help me choose the bits, so loads of comments appreciated!!

If the "rumors" are true, all new Duron/Thunderbird won't be easily oced becuase the bridge on the chip is removed.

Durons are not the power hungry beasts that TBIRDS/Classics are. The 700 Duron only uses 22.9 watts, not much more than a Peee3. Course, all PS's are not created equal, the quality of the power is more important than the total. I would be tempted to give the old supply a chance, you have nothing to lose. BTW, of all the parts in your old system, Durons will probably be most picky about RAM.
