PC not shutting down

I have a w98 box/ p3 800Mhz, 128mb ram, however it fails to shut off when I try to turn it off. Hangs at the "Windows is now shutting down" splash screen. Any suggestions? I've checked device manager for possible IRQ conflicts, but everything seems ok there. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -cb

I can't believe you're still running 98, but that being said,

This was a big issue back in the day, search microsoft for the Patch that fixes Shutdown hangs.
