pc not responding on network

Hi. we are having trouble with one of the PC's on our small domain network communicating with the others.. This computer worked perfectly until the last few days. The problem is that other computers on the network cant communicate with this PC (it has shared printers etc). If I ping the IP address of the PC through any other computer, such as the server or any other workstations, i get no response.

On the comptuer itself that cant be contacted by any other- it basically works perfectly- it can see other compters on the network, access internet and everything else works as if it did before the other comptuers stopped being able to see it.

Nothing has changed as far as im aware and have checked all the settings- firewalls are not a problem etc and the shares are still their.

Any ideas why?

Many thanks

there has to be a firewall otherwise you would be able to ping this machine. Do you have an anti virus program on that's blocking any open ports.

am positive theirs no firewall though... i run the machine and it was working perfectly until a few days ago...and it hadnt been used since i used it last... apparently their was a power surge the other day...perhaps this could have some part?

their is a firewall...its the windows one controlled by the server and has file and printer sharing as an exception..and every other pc uses these settings and work fine. on any other pc, if i view the entire network, i can see the pc, but when trying to connect it comes up with the error.......

anyone with any ideas at all?
