Specs:
Case- Antec 300 Illusion
PSU- Antec TruePower 650W
CPU- i5 760
MOBO- Gigabyte P55-USB3
RAM- GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
GPU- Sapphire 4770 512MB
HDD- Samsung Spinpoint F3

I built my PC a few days ago, left it alone without doing anything to it for a few days. Decided to start configuring today but the tower itself doesnt power on, pressed the power switch on my Antec 300... Nothing turns on, all I see is a brief split-second movement of the PSU fan.

- Swapped out my TruePower with my Earthwatts 650W, no progress.

- Reset/rebuilt it again from scratch just to make sure nothing is loose.

Since I dont have any spare compatible parts laying around, the only component I could swap out is the PSU. Thinking my mobo, CPU or my case is DOA?

Polarity doesnt matter for switches so I dont see the issue, or is there a safe way to jumper the PSU or power switch too see if that can remedy the problem?

Cant believe this, so hyped up on replacing my 6 year old PC... :(

Polarity does matter for the switches, in an Antec 300 case. They ground the front-panel via the power/reset switch connectors on the mobo.

I checked and readjusted again, dont think I plugged it incorrectly in the first place. Reread the manual PWR + - and RESET - +

Still nothing powers on, there are no LEDs or anything thats on. Any other ideas?

I know you said you rechecked everything twice, but did you remember to plug in the 4pin/8pin cpu power plug? That's the one plug I always seem to forget and it can cause the symptoms you describe.

It must be one of two things, i would pay strict attention to how you wired the F-panel, some of the labeling can be very confusing on some boards.

That or your 24-pin isen't seated properly, either way it sounds like a terminal has no connectivity or like others say, reversed polarity.

I had this problem years ago, i'm pretty sure it was F-panel related. But take your time and don't go blowing your PSU!

see if the mainboard will power on without CPU memory or anything else, bare mainboard and PSU.

I just did a benchtest out of the case with my CPU/RAM/GPU, it powers up!
Just have to figure out whats causing it not too power up when I reset my parts...

Thanks for the tips!

Found out it was a problem with the molex cable that has a 4-pin connector at the end for the mobo, the one for manually controlling case fan speeds. Shoved that molex aside in the case since that one isnt modular and used another set that doesnt have the pins.

So in turn I cant control my fan speeds, but that isnt an issue for me. But also found out that the 140mm top fan was DOA, so I guess I will just buy another fan to replace it.

Still questioning why when I plug the 4-pin connector into the mobo, the PC refuses to power up...

Are you talking about a 4-pin from the PSU? That's a power plug for a floppy drive and should definitely not be plugged into the mobo anywhere. The fan headers on the mobo are to provide power to fans, and by plugging the PSU into it, you probably created a short (and maybe fried the header).

Oh, Didnt know that, the manuals were conflicting. I dont see myself ever using a floppy anymore, so its fine. Just have to run some benchmarks and tests and then OC my Lynnfield... When my HSF gets here.

By "fried the header" I was talking about the part on the mobo, not the plug coming from the PSU.
