PC not hanging on Windows Splash screen

I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition PC that will boot up to the blue Windows XP Media Center Edition screen and stops, it does nothing beyond that. In Safe Mode I can get to the log in screen. Any suggestions of what I can do to get this to boot on into Windows, of course, besides and re-installation.

sounds like you have either a corrupt registry, damaged sector on your disk, or some type of virus or malware....

Try going back into safe mode and running virus scan, etc.. Then try running a checkdisk which will occur next reboot.. If that doesn't get you past the problem, you'll then either need to run a REPAIR in windows, or possible resinstall windows
