PC no longer boot with second HD

Everything working great then I did this.
Changed fan in psu to a quiter one. Antec 400w psu.
The fan I used was a 3pin and I plugged it into the motherboard Epox 8K7A+.
This worked great but first time I booted it stalled after detecting RAID controller (using that for HD) and so I left it came back and it managed to get to Windows but the OS didn't load properly.
So I rebooted, checked connections and this time it didn't even detect any HDs.
So into BIOS, didn't change anything, exit and it picked HD up but would not load.
So I removed second HD and it booting fine.

Anyone know what is going on??
I am sure the motherboard got enough power.

Can't be, I got same amount of peripherals as before. Only thing different is a 80mm 3pin fan connected to motherboard. The fan is rated at 28cfm, 20dba, 1500rpm, 12v, 0.63w power consumption.

This is a 400w Antec joby so should be fine.

check rig

This may be a stupid question, but did you check the slave/master jumpers on the new drive you put in?

Just checking.

Another thing - is it a brand new drive, or does it have data on it? It might just need a nice low level formating (break out the boot disks....)

Actually that isn't a stupid question, when I was putting someones computer together once, that had eluded me and couldn't figure why it wasn't booting with 1 HDD, but not with 2.

Check your jumpers! Make sure there isn't a jumper for 'single drive only'.

Jumpers are fine, I even double checked.
They are no different than before when it was working. I even tried different combinations.
Don't understand it.
It is very strange because it is up and going now with Master drive but when I connect slave up it sounds like it can't read the partition correctly. chugging sound. very strange.
does not do that on its own.
