PC Monitor as Tv

I've got it connected through DVI to my 19" Westinghouse computer monitor. Unfortunately at the moment I just get "Out of Range" on the LCD. I'm pretty sure I could get it to work, but there are some tricks to the settings, but at the moment I can't see anything on it and don't have a regular TV. (Just sold it, waiting for my new set to come!)

If anyone has some ideas of ways to get into the settings for the cable box and what settings to use and wouldn't mind telling me how to do it without being able to see anything, it wold be immensely helpful.

TIA!

Setting the box to 720p should work. I think you should be able to do it just from the box display (google the model #).

Hope you don't mind the stretch, though -- that Westy almost certainly doesn't properly letterbox 16:9 into 16:10.

I thought it was set for 720p, i think i did that before when I set it up for my old hdtv. anything else?

Do you have any way to get a picture from it: an old TV, VIVO on your video card, etc.? I have my DirecTV HD DVR (HR21) connected to my Samsung 205b. It would get no picture from 480i or 1080i, so I have it forced to 720p for everything. I'm pretty sure it's not HDCP, but I think that will only be a problem with specific shows (probably premium movie channels) that require HDCP.

When I run my PC's HDTV PCI card (MyHD MDP 120) into my 19" LCD, I choose 1280x1024 for the card's output resolution, the native resolution of the LCD and it looks perfect. I switch it to 720p when I run the output to my 720p resolution projector.
