PC Mark 05 Score low...WTF???

Ok...Rig is in my Signature. OC'd at 2640 using the following...

HTT 220
HTT Multi 4x
CPU multi is 12x
Memory is at 1:1 at 2.65 vdimm
Vcore is 1.45 set, but reporting as 1.34 IN the bios monitor and ALL software (Cpu-z, Asus PC Probe, Smart Guardian, and Asus AI Booster)

My score is now a 4030. It was in the mid 2000's prior to tonight when I installed my new Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum.

What could be the problem? Anyone have an idea? I've seen other systems like mine in the 10,000 - 15,000 score range.

I'm using the standard free downloadable version, not the paid for version if that makes any difference

Installed the appropriate chipset drivers?
Is windows task manager showing both cores?
GPU drivers?
Do you get low marks in other benches?
Is your overclock Prime stable?

^

Yeah something is wrong. I have close to the same system, and I can get 8,000 with everything at stock.

Installed the appropriate chipset drivers? - Yes 6.66 from Nvidia

Is windows task manager showing both cores? - Yes

GPU drivers? - 77.77 from Nvidia

Do you get low marks in other benches? - Don't know about other programs besides Aquamark. I don't remember what I scored so I will run it again right now and report back but I remember it was high Edit - Just ran Aquamark3, got a 13,779 on GFX and a 11,659 on the CPU.

Is your overclock Prime stable? - Yes, ran dual instances of prime (one on each core) for 14 hours...both cores passed. I tried at 2700 and core 0 would fail (probably due to my vcore problems)

Check your hard drive scores in PCmark05. Several people were getting extremely low scores on some of the hard drive tests giving false results. I was until I updated the chipset drivers. For some reason, PCmark05 doesnt want to run at all right now.

SuperPI

1m - 32 seconds
2m - 1 Minute 15 Seconds
4m - 2 Minutes 49 Seconds
8m - 6 Minutes 01 Seconds
16m - 13 Minutes 26 Seconds
32m - 29 Minutes flat

Should I run it as I run prime 95? Or should I just run one app of Super PI? The results I showed are for one app...not two running one on each core

PCMark 04 keeps getting to the last test, and failing or something, says it needs a suite to finish...

SO I ran PCMark 05 again to see if I could elaborate on anything...well...THE SCORE IS WORSE!!! 1512 now!!!

I'm no expert...but...looking at this the HDD doesn't seem to be doing great at all...and I'm not even sure saying great is even applicable here!!! I'm not using a raid setup, I've only got one SATA II drive (3G or whatever they want to call it now, it doesn't have NCQ). What could possibly be the HDD problem here? I've got the newest chipset drivers...

Could it be because I'm using the Nvidia 6.66 Chipset Drivers and NOT the Asus 6.65 Chipset Drivers? I figured the Nvidia ones would be the newest, and since Asus is pretty damn slow on releasing things, I thought that Nvidia would have the most current considering the number of the driver is higher.

If I should be using the 6.65...how would I install it? I don't have a floppy drive and already have windows installed so a fresh install isn't on my list of things I wanna do...again! LOL

your SuperPI results are just exactly the same as mine

But onto your question

I would stick with the Nivida 6.66 drivers, as they do work out pretty good

you do have 3GB/s enabled on the drive, right? (most SATAII drives require you to download a program from the manufacturer, in this case WD, and enable SATAII......)
If you dont, that could be part of the problem, but it wouldnt make that big of a difference

The problem you are having with your hard drive scores in PCmark05 are the same results I was originaly getting with mine as well. I managed to fix it somehow, but not entirely sure. I am using the 6.66 drivers, right now however I can't get PCmark05 to run at all, it crashes on the second test immediatly every time.

EDIT: Finaly got it to run again, got a 4951. Hard drive scores still really low, like 6.53mb/s for startup and about the same for general usage. HDtach seems to work fine, burst rate of 167.2mb/s and average read of 55.1mb/s with 4% cpu utilization.

Would I still need this program for my SATA II drive if my M/B has SATA II support?

Ummm...yeah...right...thanks Dothan.

I've havd Intel for MANY years. They are a stable chip...but honestly I don't think this has to do with the CPU bud. My HDD scores are in the gutter and I'm REALLY disappionted with the M/B because of the not so correct vcore problem I've been having. As far as the CPU is concerned...it's fine.
