PC/Lower Cost Alternative to Apple iPod?

I usually don't like Mac stuff but my brother brought an iPod for a whopping $399.00. Okay, it does hold a helluva lot of mp3s and I want to get one. Is there a cheaper alternative mp3 player for PCs? I looked at the Nomad Zen but still $299.00! What about CD players that can read CDs with mp3s?

Just want to know what everyone else thinks I should do. Thanks!
 
The cheapest medrium capacity mp3 players the the discman sized cd players. Creative, Sonicblue, and other make them; you can usually find them at Best Buy (assuming you have that store chain in your area) If you care a bout style, Sony makes an mp3 capable discman.
