pc is on domain, can access network shares and use internet, but cannot be pinged...?

I have a PC here that is on the network, can access network shares and use the internet (internet is modem--->sonicwall, sonicwall---->switch, switch----->all workstations). I can ping the sonicwall, the server, and other workstations from the workstation in question.... but I cannot ping the workstation in question from another workstation, nor can it be seen by scanning the ip range of the network... any idea how this is possible??

Or if XP, is the built in firewall turned on?

Your ICMP on the windows firewall is disabled. This won't really cause any problems, as long as sharing works you should be ok. Is there a reason you need ICMP (ping)?

I thought you had to manually set that though. There are people who appreciate ping as a quick way to tell if there is actual network connectivity with a device.

Either way, it could be the firewall.

On another note, if all the other PCs have Windows Firewall off, have you utilized Group Policy to make sure this happens for all PCs put on your domain? This will make it easier in the long run if you manually set up Pcs all the time.
