Hi all!

when i turn on my pc (which is acting up lately) amd 12.8 was messed up. i reverted to a older version that i thought worked.

it seems my computer is making a noise that i associate with a duh-dah. like opening a closing something. i thought it was wow at first so i turned it off. still does it. i tried to look at the processes running to see if i could catch it. for the life of me i cant figure out how to catch it!

any assistance would be a big help!

thanks

Ok. i found that the noise is associated with device connect. at least that means something. i hope.

ok,, while still lost as to a reason. when i go to the device manager. its is.. relisting itself?

hope this helps me to help you to help me. thx.

Try unplugging all USB devices and seeing if the device manager continues to continually refresh.

Thanks and i think my hdd went out. stays on the loading screen or if i hard reset, i get a cursor...and nothing else. going to grab a ssd. now i gotta figure out how to move from one device to the other.. or just say forget it and buy windows and install.. /sigh

Well if your other drive is dead, there is no moving the data. Your PC should have a sticker on it somewhere with the Windows license key though.

A reinstall is your best option when it comes to moving to an SSD. If you want to clone it, there are tools out there, but I can't comment on the usefulness of that particular one. The most popular tool is probably Acronis True Image.

You can also do if manually if you don't mind getting down and dirty with Linux,
