Going to use the sticky TS starter...

Troubleshooting starter

  1. Overview of the problem
Desktop won't give image to the monitor and other devices won't start.

  2. Full description of the problem and symptoms
Ok, everytime I start up my pc, I don't get any image. Keyboards and mouse don't even start up(they're usb).

I have one of those multi-usb hub things to connect multiple ones. When the PC worked fine, every time is started, a few secs later the light indicating the devices being used on the multi-usb hub would turn on. Now they don't, it only powers up.

  3. Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago. It first strted with random freezings, then it stopped giving me the image and the usb problem.

So first I thought it was the video card. I went on to experiment. I disconnected it, turned on the pc and the USB lights lit up. I put the card back in and they didn't lit up anymore. So I ordered a new, cheaper video card to see if that was the case and it started working fine again. With only 2 random freezes.

Now 1 week later, its happening again. When I remove the video card this time, the usb lights dont light up anymore.

  4. Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
Back first when I had the problem the first time, it was constant, with random freeze while starting up or being start up, I could only get it running up on windows by 10% of my attemps when eventually freezing up anyways.

This second time, I can't get even a image on it.

  5. I already tried these steps:
    Replaced the video card.

Tried multiple usb slots and stuff like that.

Played a bit with the RAM(dual memory).

  6. My software:

    • Windows XP Professional Edition SP2.
      AVG antivirus.

    • My hardware

      • It's custon build.
        This is the hard drive:

      • Motherboard brand & model

        ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe
      • CPU model (and is it overclocked?)

      • RAM modules brand & model (the voltage being supplied to the RAM may also be helpful to know, particularly for high-performance RAM)

        Kingstone, KVR400X64C3A 1G x4

      • Power supply brand & model
      • Feel free to add more hardware details that you think might be relevant to the issue

Sounds like your motherboard is going bad if a new video card didn't fix the problem. It about time for a new system anyway don't you think?

yea my feelings are the same. I guess I'll just move on, put the old bastard away & try to acess my hard drive info somehow. If anyone knows how I could acess it through like usb(hard drive to usb adaptor?), I'll gladly appretiate your info.

Just pop it into another PC and you'll be able to pull the files off it. Just don't let that other PC use it at the boot drive.
