So, I'm trying to hook up an old computer to my 55" LCD HDTV (for occasional web surfing/gaming), but am having some issues. I've never tried anything like this, so I'm not entirely sure what needs to be done (especially driver-wise) to get this to work.
The vid card is a GeForce4 TI4400, which has both a VGA and DVI output. My tv has a HDMI input, and I've connected the two via a DVI->HDMI cable. I fired up the pc with just the tv connected, and got nothing. Hooked up a monitor to the VGA port (keeping the tv connected), and the pc recognized two monitors. I got a secondary display to show on the tv, but only at 640x480 and 8 colors. Ouch. Tried using the default "digital display 1600x1200", but that had no effect (and was still unable to even select a higher resolution).
So, what exactly do I need to do here? Do I need a special driver to utilize the TV resolutions? What's the trick?
