A couple of days ago, my pc does not power on whatsoever when I press the power button. During this time I haven't opened the case up, moved it, etc... I've also checked the power cord, power switch at the back of the power supply, wall outlet and everything seems fine. This seemed to happen just out of no where. But, the funny thing is that this is an on and off problem. Occasionally, it will power on and the next time I try to power it on again, it doesnt work. Also, The last change to my computer during this time was an lcd monitor connected to dvi.

Specs:
AMD 3000+ 939pin
MSI K8n Neo2 Mobo
2 x Crucial Ballistix pc3200 ram
ATI 9600pro
FortronSource 530watt PS

Thanks for the help

Forgot to mention that my system is just 3 months old. My power supply is supposed to be good not the generic ones.

Also, do you guys think that something fried? I personally don't think so b/c when its able to boot up, everything seems fine.

Can you check the switch, physically.

Then again, if your system is that new, isn't it still under warranty? Or is it sb?

I'm gonna try to use warranty as a last resort. What do u mean by check the switch physically? I'm need to isolate the problem but so far it seems like it can either be the power supply or the mobo.

Or the switch, or the wires, or the header configuration.

If you open up the case, you will most likely void the warranty.

But, if you do open the case, see where the header connections are [where the case wires mostly plug into on the mobo], see the PWRSW?
Take the 2 wires off [one ground, the other a colour].
Get a screwdriver, and touch the pins together.
That should swith the power on.
Do that a few times.
If you still have the same error, then, I might suspect possibly the cpu or the mobo or the psu.

Ok I think I might have found the source of the problem. montag451 I did what you told me to do with the screw driver and still nothing. So, I change back to a stock PS and it worked! I'm gonna test it out a few more times but I guess I'm going to have rma the fortron. Thanks for all the help.
