PC hard locks after 1 hour

A friend of mine has a p3 500, voodoo3 128bm ram, win 98. Not OC`d
If his pc is running for a longer period, say 1 hour or more it hard locks, and only the reset button helps. Sometimes it also locks on running games.
It does not lock up when running in DOS.

He has tried another monitor, also with running with the pc cover off (in case of heat) but that does not help

Also tried to reinstall win 98 a couple of times, but that did not help either.

Any ideas anyone?

what kinda cooling is he using.

Thanks guys, I going over his place tonight to see if I can help him,so then I will know more about his pc. If I can not help him he will send it to a repair shop because he has no warentee.

What kind of cooling does he have on the Voodoo 3?

Sounds like a heat problem. I encountered similar symptoms with my old, high temp TNT. Problems disappeared with my new G400.
