Hi Guys!

I am new to this forums and I have an issue to discuss with you all.

My PC hangs up while in work and it stops responding to anything (Keyboard, Mouse). I cannot use Ctrl+Alt+Del keys to close any application. The only option is to use the reset button to restart the computer. It then checks for any error on disks. I am unable to find the cause. My PC configuration is P4 3.0GHZ (HT Technology), Motherboard D915GAV, RAM 512 MB, Win XP Professional, 64Kbps Cable Internet. Please help me in identifying the problem that causes PC to hang.

Thanks!

Heat related?
Does the PC work fine after the boot for a while?
Does it fail when you're doing one thing in particular?
Have you changed any settings recently?

Doesnot know if it is due to heat.. I tried leaving the cabinet open The cabinet temperature shows around 25-26 degree celsius.

It works normally fine but hangs in-between and everything stops responding. Then only reset button works. Harddisk Light also stop blinking at that time.

It happens with any application and sometime even on desktop when no application is running.

I am having this issue since I purchased this. No one is able to determine the cause yet:(

bad capacitors???

Have you noticed this?

"Let?s say you are on your trusty computer which has a fairly clean OS, not too many major programs and an internet application or two. You are chugging along, internet surfing and listening to music at the same time through the media player when all of a sudden your computer simply shuts off and starts to boot again. If this does not occur, you may be running along when all of sudden the screen freezes, no mouse movements, nothing. Finally, if during your normal boot screen you hear a lot of beeps from the system computer that you have never heard before AND you have not added any new hardware or software, this can indicate problems with the capacitors. If this has been happening infrequently in the past and is becoming more and more frequent, your board may be dying?

Oftentimes this will happen most frequently during a graphics intensive application, such as a game or video editing session. This has caused many people to target their graphics card, which may or may not be the correct diagnosis."

Ok, do you have any software to monitor your computer's temperatures in particular? CPU temp for example, if the CPU heatsink is clogged with dust (worth checking for if you don't clean your computer often) then it could be overheating and crashing because of that.

How long has this issue been going on for?

I have purchased this cpu, motherboard and RAM in May 2005. The cabinet displays the temperature that normally shows around 26 degree celsius.

Overheat should not be the case in my opinion, as I have two extra fans in the cabinet, ac runs in the room and I usually keep my cabinet open.

Yes, I do run MMORPG (online game) on my system. It hangs while running the game and sometimes without even running it.

I do not have any graphic card on my motherboard, as I am using P4 3.0 GHZ(HT Technology) CPU along with Gaming motherboard 915GAV.

I still not able to resolve this :(

I had an interesting problem like this just recently.

I had just installed a clean install of windows, only had minimal programs on the PC (morrowind, edonkey, AV and CounterSpy).
But I wanted to get edonkey back to downloading some big torrents I had been working on.

and everything was working for about a week, then all of a sudden when I started sharing stuff I had completed downloading... all of a sudden after I started sharing files, my computer would lock up in 5 second bursts, and my Network Connection would fail, until I mananged to suffer my way to Ending my peer to peer program with Task manager and get back my network and disable and enable to my Internet connection.

Could be something there... maybe.

Dunno if I Fixed it for real, But I had to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall edonkey to get it to work right... it's been running, even sharing files fine for three weeks now.
Wasn't malware or overheating, just a bad program install.
