Links is good, but online play can be a bit slow, also, since it is MS product now, you have to go thru the zone to play pick up games, which is a real pain IMHO. i haven't played any others.
IMO the best golf game is Jack Nicklaus 5 - I think there is a newer version now, though. Me and a buddy did a lot of work with the course designer in this game - quite a bit of fun. I forget if it is network-capable, though. But, since it is kind of an older game you can probably get it really cheap.
Fausto1 thx for the info, after reading all about the Tiger Woods one it looks very good to me. It will have tourny play also, and I like what I read about waves crashing and mist spraying on the 18th at the Pebble Beach course. If you guys havent read it yet check out EA Sports site you might be as interested as I am.

Yup... I jsut got Links Championship Edition (Links 2001 w/ some extra courses and crap)... AWESOME grpahics. It does play over the net. LAN: not sure about that one... i don't see why not. i can check the box if you're really interested.
I'll sell you my links 98/99 disks for a reasonable price.
See above: does inded run on LAN. Extra fun very late at night after an evening of drinking and gaming with LAN buds. PM Bunker or Geekender for conformation of this as they were in on the silliness.
FWIW- Links2K1 also has a nice course designer included. I've had a good time making approximations of local courses I've played here in ATL.
