Trying to figure this one out.

Trying to fix an HP S3321p. One of those Slimline PC's. It powers on and then just hangs at the BIOS flash screen. Sometimes it will go past that and then say, "disk boot failure. insert system disk and press enter"

I plugged the HDD into my XP machine here at work and it causes the same thing to happen to my PC. It just sits there at my BIOS splash screen.

99.9% sure that means the HDD is bad. Try finding a replacement drive on NewEgg.

Sounds like a bad disk; set it up as a slave in your PC and see if Windows can detect it. If it can, disk may be corrupted and needs a format. If not, disk is most likely "dead"

I did get it to go into the Diagnostic Tool on the HP machine just now.

Came up with......

ERROR CODE: BIOHD-2
Warning: No Drives detected.

The thing is I did get it to show on my xp machine, but then after a restart, it didn't show. Then another restart and it hung up. Oh well for this drive. lol
