PC gets vveerryy slow and wont reboot.

I just built myself, my mom and my mom-in-law just about identical comps. We all have Asus P4S333 boards,P4 1.6A CPUs and GF 3 Ti200 video cards and WD HDDs. The only difference is I have Mushkin DDR2700 and they both have Corsair DDR2100 and my HDD is 80G and thiers are 40G units.

Mine is O/Ced and runs like a champ, the mom-in-laws is at stock speed and runs awesome as well.

my moms on the other hand ran great for the first two weeks then after updating her XP with the newest downloads from microsoft.com it started running like a P66. A few days later it was back to normal.. I then loaded some updates for her office 2000 from Microsoft.. No problems there... Then after we loaded Mcaffe it slowed down again. It took almost 5-6 minutes to reboot
but once it did it has now run fine.

Could it be the CPU? Wife thinks it might be... If it is I wasthinking of putting my 1.6 in her comp and then getting me a 1.8. 🙂

The funny thing is I have built meself and my wife 4 different PC and never have a lick of problems. But this is the secong PC I have built for my mom and soth now have given us grief.

Any one have a clue as to what could be wrong?

format the hd and start over! she may have loaded a lot of things into the background or even try to scandisk it then run god whats it called when you have a program reorganize stuff and you get very little space back? but it supposedly speeds up your computer a little?

the problem is my mom has never even had it yet. It has been at my house the whole time. About 2 months now. I built it,loaded XP, loaded rivers and it ran great. Shut it down till we could load the rest, zone alarm,office 2000, Mcaffe, and so forth. It took us awhile to get the rest loaded, were busy. 🙂

So my mom hasn't had the chance to screw with it yet.
