Which is why given the options of Xbox, Wii and DS, my kids are upstairs playing on the PC right now.
While I get the point, really....did we need another one of these?
Clearly, your kids are geniuses and not mainstream at all.Yes, because most of these threads focus on developer support for PC games or an individual user's undying devotion for PC games. My kids are the target audience the likes of nintendo, microsoft and sony are vying for - young main-stream kids. PC gaming is most definitely not targeting that very audience, yet my three kids have all opted to pass up wasting their time on a console platform, two of which are currently sitting next to the one that's playing on the PC just to watch.
That's got to say something.

Yes, it says something: they are wasting their time on the PC instead of a console (lol).
Actually, I am being facetious here, but there is a point to what I am saying.
I support and prefer PC gaming, but you seem to imply that console gaming is a waste of time and PC gaming somehow magically is educational.
Granted, there are still probably more educational and intellectually stimulating games on the PC, and the PC can be used for other intellectual activities, but a game is still a game.
Not trying to rip you or your kids. My grandson plays a lot of games on the comp and is very smart and does well in school. I am just saying, depending on the game choice, a PC game is not necessarily superior to a console game as far as intellectual development is concerned.
Yet another PC Gaming is dead topic... however this has an unforeseen twist.
I, for one, am getting out of here before this one gets ugly
Having said that, despite questionable health, I grew up on a diet of Spectrum, Amiga and PC games, only digressing to the console to play FFVII and Wii Fit!
I don't think there's really been any innovation on the console side, outside of Wii/Kinect, and people who like the classic games generally have better options on the PC side. I'm kinda interested to see if DICE's approach to BF3 willl bring people back to a PC first development cycle...if BF3 cleans up on PC and makes a shit ton of money (and it will), other developers may see that the PC isn't the readheaded stepchild they like too portray it as.
I been hearing people say PC Gaming is dead or dying since the day I got into PCs and that goes back to 1993. It was probably said before then too. The OP is entitled to his opinion but as far as I'm concerned its BS. It was BS then and its BS now. Find a new argument please.
Gaming is dead, or at least it has been for me the past few months. I just haven't seen anything I want to play. Not on pc and not on consoles. Right now I don't have a single game installed. It seems like all the games coming out are the same ideas just with different graphics.

Its not dead and it will never die but It is played by a few. It can be compared to Golf. Golf isn't dead, its just expensive and thus not as popular.
Golf is popular, it's just boring to watch on tv (or in person for that matter)
