PC gaming disc

So after I installed a game using a disc with a key, do I still need to keep the disc? I don't ever need to insert the discs to be able to play the games anyway. Sorry, I'm new to PC gaming.

Digital games w/ keys you never need a disc.

Typically when you install with a disc, you need it...unless the game installs to a digital library.

Just pull out the CD and see if it runs, easy test 🙂

The games runs on the Steam and Origin libraries. I don't ever need to insert the disc to be able to play.

I misunderstood the question.

You don't have to keep the disc.

As above if its played through steam or origin or battle net(?) the blizzard thing. No you don't need to keep them. Same goes for any mmo (guild wars, world of warcraft, etc). If its a game that has a desktop icon to start it up yes you will need the CD & key if you uninstall it then change your mind and want to install it again.

I can't remember the last game I bought that required a disc. Most of the time they're just keys to their respective online stores.

Why would you want to throw out an original disc? Are you running out of space in your house?

I bet you'd hate me then. I pitched every CD form my collection years ago. If it doesn't have a NO-CD fix then I'd just pirate it. Every game so far has worked fine just by keeping the CDKEYs and using torrents. Plus I treat CDs like the bastard Bolton treats Theon in Game of Thrones.

WHATS YOUR NAME, CD?!?!?!? *presses CD into dirty desk and slides it a foot* WHAT IS YOUR NAME!?!?!?!

you don't have to, although I probably would just in case (what if something happens where Steam bans your account and you suddenly can't play the game or something?).

I typically discard any jewelcases/packaging and put the CD in a binder that I keep on a bookshelf along with my other PC items (spare drives, blank disks, manuals that I can see needing again, etc)

If that happens, those discs are worthless, as the keys associated with the games don't get magically transferred. They're single-use.
