PC games running on vista

are people having troubles installing games on their PC's running Vista? I had installed a copy of the RTM but I couldnt install nero on it so I uninstalled Vista and went back to XP. BUT I think I want to give Vista another chance so I am asking if games are going to give me the same issue, I can live without nero for a while but I am unsure if I can live without games...
thanks for the help.

Depends on the game I suppose, but I'm running these without issue:

Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots
Neverwinter Nights Gold
Diablo II w/ Expansion
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
Simcity 4 Deluxe

Age of Empires III will crash with a DirectX error, but if you turn off the movies using the "+noIntroCinematics" switch, it will run just fine.

Note these games aren't using any form of accelerated sound (EAX) since this isn't available in Vista. I can't tell much of a difference in my 2.1 setup.

I've been running Vista Ultimate RTM x86 for a little over a week, and have suprisingly great success with app/game compatibility. Here's a list of some of what has worked just fine for me:

APPS:
- Nero 7.5.7.0
- Office 2003
- Adobe Photoshop CS2
- AnyDVD 6.0.8.2
- DVD Shrink (running in XP SP2 compatibility mode)
- Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3633
- iTunes 7.0.2
- RemotelyAnywhere 7.01.541

Media Players/Codecs:
- QuickTime 7.1
- DivX 6.4
- Winamp 5.32

Games:
- BF2 (must run as administrator - set permissions on bf2.exe)
- HL2
- CSS
- RTCW - Enemy Territory (must run as administrator - set permissions on et.exe)

Drivers:
- Logitech Setpoint 3.1.0 (run installer in XP SP2 compatibility mode)

Note: Audio and Video drivers for pretty much every dedicated videocard and soundcard are still in beta, so performance in both these areas still leave a little to be desired, but should improve in the coming months.
