waste of bandwidth. Any game that will have this as a requirement will have it on the CD as well.

How is it a waste of bandwidth?..... Game CD versions are not always the latest ,besides latest DX build has performance as well as security updates if you read Microsoft's overview, not to meantion a lot of Vista users don't know they can also install it on Vista.

Be nice to get a thankyou rather then a stupid waste of bandwith remark ;).

Yep, today's MS security updates is supposed to include a fix for a DirectX exploit/hole. So for security reasons this is a good idea.

Man, why must they continue calling it 9.0c? Why not 9.0d, or 9.0c.1, or something at least?

Thanks OP, I'll download this when I get home.

I think because there have been no significant changes, just fixes.

I think he meant that any game that REQUIRES this version of Directx, would have it on the CD. So yes it would have the latest version.

Wonder what changes were made. If it's bug fixes or stability fixes, seems worth downloading.

He forgets all the other benefits of having latest version, not to meantion that uncalled for remark about waste of bandwidth, however you forget some demo games have required latest DX9.0c version, example being last year when a few people were having problems with getting" The Witcher" DEMO to run in Vista, the simple fix was to install latest DX9.0c version.

As to changes probably security/bug fixes and performance improvements.
The Microsoft Overview gives a general idea.

Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX APIs.

Mem is right - treat DX updates like driver updates and stay up to date.
