PC game & critical error: what to do?

I recently installed Warcraft III on my computer. During the opening cinematics the game crashes and closes out to the desktop. Here is the message that is displayed:

"This application has encountered a critical error:

FATAL ERROR!

Program: c:\program files\warcraft iii\war3.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:0306A6A8

The instruction at ?0x0306A6A8? referenced memory at ?0x0306A6A8?.
The memory could not be ?read?.

Press OK to terminate the application."


Basically, I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. The computers specs are P4 2.4, ATI 9700, and 512 mb Corsair DDR 2700

Perhaps contact Blizzard technical support? You did pay for yours, right?

Yep, I definitely paid for it. I figured I might get a quicker and/or better response by posting here first.
