my wifes computer freezes on bootup. It literally is on for 5 seconds and freezes at the bios post screen. It shows the CPU name/speed and freezes. I can not get it to go to bios, its already frozen.

she has a NF4x mobo.

I have checked all the fans and they are spinning. I just air dusted the pc's insides.

Anyone have any ideas where to start? the Pc is not OC'ed.

If you have a decent multimeter, check the voltage outputs on the power supply to make sure they're pretty close to spec, ideally within 5% of their intended voltages.

Bigger picture: if there's any important stuff on her hard drive, you probably want to pull that out and get it backed up as soon as practical.

If you put her drive into a different computer to back up her stuff, but you run into problems getting into her folder within the Documents and Settings folder, then boot your "rescue computer" into Safe Mode, right-click her folder, choose Properties, then go to the Security tab and do what's shown in this pic :camera:, assigning Ownership of her folder to the account you're using on the rescue computer. Now you can get into it and make backups of stuff.

Thanks for the tips. Im in the process of elimination now. If all the other peripherals are good and after the ram swapping and bios reset then Ill do the backup thing. Thanks again.
