PC freezes during cold Bootup

I put together a home made machine :
Athlon XP 2800
ECSN2U400 MB - Nforce 2
Maxtor 120 GB HD
FX 5700 128 MB Video
Patriot 512 MB DDR memory
Vigor 400 PS

It ran fine for a gew months. Now when I attempt to boot it up when cold it gets past the POST
and starts loading XP.
Windows will take a long time to load and somtimes the progress display freezes.
I then reboot and after pressing enter to start windows normally everything is fine.

I have run Maxtor's powermax diag - okay.
Rum memtest86 - okay

One more thing, if I power it on and enter the bios and let it warm up and quit it. It will boot
with no problems.

Any ideas?
