PC freezes after Office 2003 install

Hi, my system seems to have an issue with Office 2003. After installing it, there's always a lag time after I click on the Start button after closing any windows or programs, like Firefox or windows explorer. Before the installation the system ran fine. I installed Office with all applications and all optional features. I really don't understand why the mouse would freeze for about 2-3 seconds after I browse the web or something and close the browser's window. When I'm working within a browser or program, everything seems fine. So I did a system restore to a little before office was installed, and everything was fine. But after reinstalling it, the lag came back. I don't think this is hardware related, but I'll post my specs anyway. I'm just confused as to why a program like Office would cause a system to hang at times.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ stock
MSI 6600 GT stock
Epox 9npa+ultra
2x512 mb Rosewill ddr400 ram.
Hitachi 160 gig 7200 rpm
Thermaltake Silent Purepower 480W

If it is still installed, Go to START, RUN
type
msconfig
Go to the STARTUP tab.
Untick Office.

I tried looking for things in startup earlier, and Office isn't even there. Also, my system isn't infected with anything. I'll see if uninstalling fixes it. If I remember correctly Office 2000 worked just fine. Thanks for the response.

EDIT: I just uninstalled it and the PC instantly stopped choking... weird. I still want to know what happened though, and I don't want to go back to Office 2000.

OK, I think I figured out why this is happening. Apparently when I installed Office all these times, I chose a complete installation, which installs things like speech and handwriting recognition. These features seem to slow the PC down at times. I did a system restore and a reinstall, but this type chose a Typical installation, and everything is fine so far. Thanks for the replies. I'll post here again if I run into more problems. >.<

Good to know.
I'd still look at getting the latest service pack for Office.
Either click on the Microsoft Update link within the Windows Update page, or visit http://www.officeupdate.microsoft.com - you may find that it solves the handwriting/speech recognition problem.

Quick question, has anyone else had this problem of Office causing your PC to hang after doing a Complete installation? Thanks in advance.
